Do you see a lot less action, in very cold water in the action of your soft plastics. I am asking mostly about; Worm wiggle, Tail action and craw fish claw imitations ? It also seems that fall rates are affected, i would imagine the coolness of the water may change the density of the bait, but I am not sure
If you need more action one thing you can try is boiling the plastics for a few seconds, that will make them a lot softer from the start, so the cold water pretty much makes them normal again.

The only plastics I know that does't lose some action in the water is Roboworms. They seem to stay pretty lively for whatever reason. Everything else, especially salt impregnated baits get stiff, and I think its the plastic density compression like you said.

Now that I am down here in the sunshine state I probably won't have to deal with this. If I'm in cold water < 50 and want to fish a vertical drop bait or on the bottom I always rely on Uncle Josh. Water clarity sometimes will partly determine my choices. I luv me sum hard jerkbait fishing which is usually my default bait in cold water followed closely by a jig-n-pig.
Thank you

Thanks Fellas i am living in Sacramento CA and not sure if this will be an issue or not. I am going to fish the American River for smallies and I think it may be an issue there. I am currently looking for a Tin Jon Boat and motor as I am less than an hour form the Delta and I am chomping at the bit to fish it!
Thank you
